Become an Official with SYFFL
- Referees must be min 15-years-old or have played in the league for three consecutive years.
- Referees are required to read and understand the NFL Flag Football rule book. It can be downloaded under the “Referee Page” section of www.syffl.com or at www.nflflag.com. A copy will always be available at the field for reference.
- Referees must set up a StackOfficials account to be scheduled and paid. You will be sent an invitation to Stack once you pass the referee exam. You need to attach a bank account for direct deposit prior to being scheduled.
- All referees are required to become an NFL Flag certified official, instructions on how to do so are below.
- Referees are required to always be in full and appropriate uniform, the League Director or Field Representative can dismiss an unprepared referee without pay.
- Referees are to report to 30 minutes prior to their game for field setup, if you are too late for field setup you will be docked $5.00/hr. If you are running late you need to call the referee coordinator, Myles Adams 603-662-2057.
NFL Flag Referee Certification Process
SYFFL is now requiring all referees become certified officials through NFL Flag, the process is simple, and it will get you a $5.00 per game raise, make you eligible to ref NFL Flag tournaments, and increase your credibility with coaches/parents/players. There are a few upfront costs that include the yearly membership fee of $25.00 and the NFL Flag official Officials shirt. Once you follow the steps below to become certified, purchase the shirt, and send me your certification verification you will begin receiving the $5.00 per game bonus which will offset those costs quickly.
Certification Process- It says you need to be 17 to join, this is only to officiate in NFL Flag regional and national tournaments, you do not need to be 17 to officiate in our league.
1. Go to www.nflflag.com
2. Click the “Officials” tab to the far right of the page.
3. Scroll down and find the section “Join the Referee Registry.”
a. Click the “JOIN HERE” tab.
4. Click the “Create an Account” tab.
a. Have a card available as this is when you will pay the $25.00 registration/membership fee.
5. Complete the three steps in the “Get Certified” Section
6. Once completed you will receive your certification.
